WHAT IS JUVEDERM VOLUMA™ XC?
The main ingredient in Juvederm Voluma XC is hyaluronic acid. It is the first and only soft-tissue, liquid facelift filler FDA-approved to instantly add volume and provide lift to the cheek area. This facial filler helps to restore contour for a more youthful profile, with results lasting for up to 2 years. The Juvederm Voluma XC cheek filler is a good nonsurgical facelift option for patients not ready to have a surgical facelift.
WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body. The role of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water, and to act as a cushioning agent. Depending on the product used, it can offer more of a filling or more of a lifting effect that can last from months to years.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JUVEDERM ULTRA AND VOLUMA?
Both are formulated from Hyaluronic Acids and are made by Allergan. JUVÉDERM smoothes out moderate to severe wrinkles and folds while JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC, the only product FDA-approved for the mid-face, adds volume and creates a lift to the cheek area.
WHAT SHOULD I KNOW BEFORE MY TREATMENT?
You should stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil supplements, and other blood thinners for 2 weeks prior to injection, if possible, to decrease your risk of bruising at the injection site. Also, you should not have any dental work for one month prior or two months after your Voluma injection treatments. If you are taking any other blood thinners, please inform the doctor during your visit. We do not recommend any injectable treatment immediately prior to a special event.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER MY TREATMENT?
- Minimal recovery or downtime. As with any injection, there is a possibility of bruising and swelling.
- Immediate improvement in the treatment areas.
Results can vary and you may need more than one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing results.
